Human rights must guide Drumcree parade decisions in Northern Ireland
Original: Northern Ireland : Human Rights must guide decisions on Drumcree Parade
The International Federation for Human Rights says decisions about the contentious Drumcree Parade in Northern Ireland must be guided by human rights principles. The parade has long been a flashpoint between the Orange Order and residents, and the organisation is calling on authorities to apply human rights standards when ruling on whether it can proceed.
Why now: Renewed attention to the disputed Drumcree Parade has prompted rights groups to urge authorities to apply human rights standards to decisions about it.
