Mahershala Ali steps away from 'Blade' for a better film, critic says

Original: Review: Mahershala Ali lost ‘Blade.’ He made a better movie instead.

Mahershala Ali's long-troubled Marvel film 'Blade' remains stalled, and a new review argues the actor has ended up making a better movie instead. The Houston Chronicle review frames his current project as proof of his range beyond the vampire hunter role, drawing attention to how long 'Blade' has been delayed and how little progress Marvel has shown.

Why now: Frustration over the repeated delays of Marvel's 'Blade' has kept attention on Ali's career moves and new roles.
