Only two non-Pacific leaders accept Australia's pre-Cop climate summit invitation

Australia's pre-Cop climate summit has opened with a weak international response, as just two leaders from outside the Pacific region have accepted Canberra's invitation ahead of Cop31. The Guardian reports the low uptake as a mixed start for the gathering, raising questions about the level of international engagement Australia can convene before the main UN climate talks.
Why now: The poor attendance signals waning diplomatic momentum for Cop31 and embarrassment for Australia's climate leadership bid.
