Ukraine says AI gun turrets downed Russian jet-powered drones

Ukraine's automated robotic gun turrets have shot down Russian jet-powered attack drones, including the Geran-5, according to Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat. He said the turrets use machine vision and artificial intelligence to track and engage fast-moving targets that conventional air defences struggle to intercept, marking a shift toward autonomous systems in drone defence.

Why now: Russia's escalating use of jet-powered drones is pushing Ukraine to deploy new AI-driven interception technology.
