Conservationists urge Congress to protect New England's roadless areas
Original: Conservationists want Congress to do more to protect New England’s roadless areas
Conservation groups are calling on Congress to strengthen protections for roadless areas across New England, arguing current safeguards are insufficient to shield these forests from development and road construction. The push, reported by the New Hampshire Bulletin, is drawing attention to the region's undeveloped public lands and the legislative action advocates say is needed to preserve them for the long term.
Why now: Conservation advocates have launched a new push for federal legislation, prompting regional coverage and debate over land protection.
