Yemen launches major military operation against Houthis
Yemeni forces have launched what officials are calling a major military operation against the Houthi movement, according to DW reporting. The Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen including the capital Sanaa, have been a central party to the country's long-running conflict. Details on the scale, location and casualties of the operation were not immediately available, and the Houthis have not yet publicly responded to the announcement.
Why now: A new offensive against the Houthis could mark a significant escalation in Yemen's conflict and has regional implications.
