Bolsonaro and Lula Head to Runoff in Brazil Election
Original: Bolsonaro and Lula head to a runoff in Brazil’s presidential election
No candidate won a majority in Brazil's presidential election, so former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and incumbent Jair Bolsonaro will face each other in a second-round runoff. The outcome sets up a decisive contest between the country's two dominant political figures, with the winner set to lead Latin America's largest democracy.
Why now: The first-round result in a high-stakes presidential election determines the final choice facing Brazilian voters.
