North Sea workers back strike hitting Forties oil pipeline

Original: north sea oil

Workers at Apache have voted to back strike action that could disrupt the Forties pipeline system in the North Sea, one of the UK's most important oil routes, according to the union. The strike raises the prospect of reduced North Sea oil output at a time when energy prices and UK production are already under scrutiny.

Why now: A strike vote threatens disruption to a major UK oil pipeline, making energy supply a live concern.
