Programmers port original Doom to run on SQL
Original: We ported the original Doom to SQL
Developers at CedarDB have ported the original Doom to run entirely in SQL, continuing a long tradition of getting the 1993 shooter onto unlikely platforms. The blog post details how the game was adapted to the database query language, and the project is drawing wide attention and amusement from programmers discussing the technical ingenuity involved.
Why now: Running Doom on absurd platforms is a beloved programming meme, and a SQL implementation is an especially surprising feat.
