South African players revisit 'Sandpapergate' and a forgotten series win
Original: ‘Sandpapergate’ and a forgotten series win – by the South Africans who were there
South Africans who played in the 2018 series against Australia have spoken out about 'Sandpapergate', the ball-tampering scandal that dominated that tour, while also recalling their own largely forgotten series victory in the same contests. Their accounts offer a player's-eye view of the controversy and insist the on-field achievement deserves more recognition than it has received.
Why now: New first-hand recollections from the players involved have revived interest in a famous cricket scandal and the overshadowed South African win.
