125 million Indians vote in a single day with same-day results
Original: 125 million people voted in India today Voter ID was required No mass mail voting Results were in the same day
125 million people voted in India in one day, with mandatory voter ID, no mass mail-in voting, and results announced the same day. The figures are being highlighted in online commentary, largely by US-based accounts drawing comparisons with American election procedures, with the scale and speed of India's voting process presented as a point of contrast.
Why now: The claim is being circulated as an implicit comparison with US election practices.
