Zelenskyy says Ukraine is building its own Starlink rival
Original: Zelenskyy says Ukraine is developing satellite system similar to Starlink
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine is developing a domestic satellite communications system similar to SpaceX's Starlink. The announcement points to Kyiv's push for technological independence in battlefield and civilian connectivity, given how critical satellite internet has been to Ukraine's war effort and its reliance on foreign providers since the 2022 invasion.
Why now: Ukraine's wartime reliance on Starlink and its drive for self-sufficiency in military communications make the announcement timely.
