Michael Bracewell moves to casual contract targeting Big Bash
Original: Michael Bracewell shifts to casual contract with eye on BBL
New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell has switched from a central to a casual contract with New Zealand Cricket, a move that frees him up to pursue opportunities in Australia's Big Bash League. The shift gives him greater flexibility to play overseas franchise cricket while remaining available for selection when needed. It highlights the growing tension between national boards and lucrative T20 leagues around the world.
Why now: The flexible contracting model reflects the wider trend of players prioritising T20 franchise leagues over traditional national deals.
