Jaishankar says Russia stood by India when the West did not
Original: EAM Jaishankar REMINDS the West why New India WON'T cut ties with Russia: "Russia STOOD by INDIA when much of the WORLD
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has defended India's refusal to cut ties with Russia, saying Moscow stood by India at critical moments when much of the world backed Pakistan's military regime. His remarks push back against Western pressure to isolate Russia, framing the partnership as rooted in history rather than convenience. Supporters echoed the comment as a assertive statement of India's independent foreign policy.
Why now: Ongoing Western pressure on India to distance itself from Russia keeps Jaishankar's defence of the relationship highly topical.
