Otoni de Paula promises to take Lula's message to evangelicals

Original: otoni de paula

Rio de Janeiro congressman Otoni de Paula, a former ally of Jair Bolsonaro, said he will work to bring evangelical voters to Lula in the second round of Brazil's presidential election. His pledge is drawing attention given his past support for Bolsonaro, whose base overlaps heavily with the evangelical community.

Why now: His switch from Bolsonaro ally to Lula supporter ahead of the runoff is a surprising political realignment.
