Original: SUN: Maryland fines developer for more Gunpowder tributary pollution
Maryland has issued a fine against a developer for additional pollution in a tributary of the Gunpowder River, according to the Baltimore Sun. The penalty is tied to ongoing concerns about sediment and construction runoff damaging waterways in the region. Environmental advocates have repeatedly pressed state regulators to hold developers accountable for repeated violations affecting the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
Why now: Regulators are under scrutiny for repeated pollution incidents in a waterway important to the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem.
