Original: HKU eyes Northern Metropolis expansion to boost research capacity, attract talent
The University of Hong Kong is reportedly considering an expansion into the Northern Metropolis, the large development area along Hong Kong's border with mainland China. The move would aim to increase the university's research capacity and help it attract academic talent. Details on the scale, timing and funding of any campus development there remain limited.
Why now: The Northern Metropolis is a flagship government development project, so universities' plans to establish a presence there draw attention to Hong Kong's push to become a research and innovation hub.
