Michel Jean shares three wishes for Truth and Reconciliation Day

Original: michel jean

Quebec journalist and author Michel Jean marked Canada's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by sharing three wishes, published in French-language media. Jean, who is of Innu origin and a prominent voice on Indigenous issues in Quebec, used the occasion to reflect on reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. The comments are drawing attention as Canadians observe the day honouring residential school survivors and their communities.

Why now: It is September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada, when Indigenous figures like Michel Jean are widely featured.
