Tamil Nadu free bus travel scheme case withdrawn amid confusion

Original: பேருந்து

Tamil Nadu's 'Vetri Payanam' scheme, which offers free bus travel to women, is in focus after the case opposing the scheme was withdrawn, reported Daily Thanthi. Separately, women are being reminded that the scheme does not apply to AC buses, clarifying which services remain chargeable. The scheme continues to draw attention over its coverage and eligibility.

Why now: Fresh clarification that the free travel scheme excludes AC buses and news of the opposing case being withdrawn are circulating together.
