Luxembourg's forests are in a historic crisis, with only one in seven trees considered healthy. Prolonged drought, heatwaves and pest outbreaks, driven by climate change, are damaging woodland faster than trees can recover, according to reports circulating about the country's forest condition. The decline is described as unprecedented and outpacing the forests' natural ability to adapt, raising concern about the future of Luxembourg's wooded landscapes.

Why now: New figures showing severe forest decline highlight the accelerating local impact of climate change.
