Space Foundation taps Mortensen as chief mission officer
Original: Space Foundation names retired Air Force space commander Kevin “Morty” Mortensen Chief Mission Officer and NASA veteran Meredith McKay to lead government relations
The Space Foundation has appointed retired US Air Force space commander Kevin "Morty" Mortensen as Chief Mission Officer, and named Meredith McKay, a NASA veteran, to head its government relations efforts. The hires place two figures with deep military and civilian space backgrounds in senior leadership roles at the Colorado-based nonprofit, which advocates for the space community and organizes the annual Space Symposium.
Why now: The space sector is watching leadership moves at major advocacy organizations as government and commercial space activity accelerates.
