Egypt's Sisi and Sudan's al-Burhan hold talks on conflict
Original: Egypt's Sisi and Sudan's al-Burhan discuss conflict and regional diplomacy
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met with Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan for talks covering Sudan's ongoing conflict and broader regional diplomacy. The discussions come as Sudan's civil war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces continues to displace millions and draw in neighbouring states, with Egypt positioning itself as a key broker in regional efforts.
Why now: Sudan's war remains a major regional crisis, and any high-level meeting between Egypt and Sudan's military leadership draws attention to possible diplomatic moves.
