U.S. Withdraws Bombers From U.K. Base After Iran Threats
Original: U.S. Rushes to Withdraw Bombers From U.K. Air Base After New Threats
The United States has urgently withdrawn its bombers from a U.K. air base following what American officials describe as threats of an Iran-based plot against the installation. The withdrawal was carried out with unusual speed, according to The New York Times, underscoring concern within the Pentagon about the credibility of the threat and the vulnerability of forward-deployed aircraft to attack.
Why now: The unusually rapid pullout of strategic bombers from a key allied base raises questions about a credible Iran-linked threat to U.S. forces.
