Dodik's allies lead in Bosnia's early election count
Original: Bosnia's first count is in, and Dodik's machine held. With 80% counted (Central Election Commission): Serb seat: his all
Bosnia's Central Election Commission has counted about 80% of ballots in the country's election, with results favouring Milorad Dodik's political machine. In the Serb seat, his ally Željka Cvijanović leads her nearest rival by nearly two to one, while his party's Savo Minić is ahead by roughly 40,000 votes in the race for Serb region president. Counting for the Croat seat is still being watched.
Why now: Early results suggest Dodik's grip on Republika Srpska politics remains intact despite international scrutiny of his secessionist rhetoric.
