Emily accuses media of sane-washing trans segregation
Original: Emily says the media is sane washing trans segregation. https://www. tiktok.com/t/ZPL81rvak/ # trans # transgender # lgb
A commentator named Emily is accusing mainstream media outlets of 'sane washing' the segregation of transgender people, meaning the press is presenting discriminatory treatment in calm, reasonable-sounding language that masks its severity. The claim, circulating widely on social media, argues that coverage of anti-trans policies normalizes exclusion rather than naming it as segregation. The term has become a flashpoint in debates over how US media frames transgender rights.
Why now: Ongoing political fights over anti-trans legislation and criticism of how media covers it are driving discussion.
