Why Israel is rejecting an October 7 reckoning
Original: ‘Did he know?’: Why Israel is rejecting an October 7 reckoning
Israeli debate is focused on whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu knew in advance of the October 7 Hamas attack and why no formal reckoning has followed. Critics ask 'Did he know?' and demand accountability for the security failures of that day, while the government resists calls for a state commission of inquiry, keeping the question politically alive.
Why now: Ongoing political tension over accountability for the October 7 attack and the government's refusal to hold an inquiry.
