Journalist Mehdi Hasan shared a message tagging Zionism alongside racism and apartheid in a political context. The framing echoes a long-running and fiercely contested debate over whether criticism of Zionism constitutes criticism of Israeli state policy or antisemitism. Reactions to the post are divided, with supporters endorsing the characterisation and critics condemning it.
Why now: Debate over Israel, Zionism and accusations of apartheid remains highly charged amid ongoing conflict and political controversy.
