Chris Rock likens woke culture to Salem witch trials
Original: Chris Rock compares woke culture to Salem
Comedian Chris Rock is drawing attention for remarks comparing today's woke culture to the Salem witch trials, suggesting public shaming and ideological conformity have replaced reasoned debate. The comparison has reignited arguments over cancel culture and free speech, with supporters praising his candor and critics calling the analogy exaggerated and unfair to social justice movements.
Why now: Rock remains a prominent voice on comedy and cultural debates, so his provocative comparison has sparked fresh argument over cancel culture.
