Department of War unveils its new logo
Original: Department of War logo
The Trump administration's rebranding of the Department of Defense as the Department of War has produced a new official logo, and reactions are mixed. Critics say the design echoes the pre-1947 War Department seal and wastes money on a political rebrand, while supporters see it as a return to a tougher military identity. The renaming required an executive order and still needs congressional approval for a permanent change.
Why now: The Pentagon's rebrand under the new Department of War name is politically contentious and freshly in the news.
