Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche is facing sharp criticism from political commentators after defending the administration's handling of deportation cases just as the Supreme Court's new session begins. Critics accuse him of dismissing allegations of human rights violations against immigrants, with his response that the claims are 'not true' drawing particular anger online. The comments came during a broadcast dedicated to the court's upcoming docket, which includes deportation and immigrant rights cases.
Why now: Blanche's defense of deportation policies, aired just before the Supreme Court takes up immigration-related cases, has inflamed opponents of the administration's immigration agenda.
