2,800 displaced in one day in Sudan's Blue Nile

Original: Insecurity displaces 2,800 people in single day in Sudan’s Blue Nile: UN migration agency

The UN migration agency says renewed insecurity in Sudan's Blue Nile state forced around 2,800 people to flee their homes in a single day. The displacement adds to Sudan's widening humanitarian crisis, which has already uprooted millions since fighting between the army and the Rapid Support Forces erupted in April 2023. Aid agencies say access and funding shortfalls are hampering the response.

Why now: Sudan's war continues to drive mass displacement and humanitarian emergency, keeping new displacement figures in the news.
