An open-source project called Xtool is drawing attention for letting developers build and deploy iOS apps using SwiftPM on Linux, Windows and macOS, without Apple's Xcode. The Swift-based tool positions itself as a cross-platform alternative to Apple's development environment, a long-standing pain point for iOS developers working outside the Mac ecosystem. Reaction so far is largely curiosity and interest from developers eager for freedom from Apple's tooling.
