China has completed the phase-out of ozone-depleting HCFC chemicals from its solvent industry, closing a project that began in 2016 and required 53 enterprises to switch to alternatives. A nationwide ban on HCFCs in cleaning agents took effect on 1 July 2026. The move is being welcomed as a significant step for the ozone layer and international environmental commitments.
