parakeet

A parakeet found only in Colombia's Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta has been photographed in its mountain habitat. The species lives between 2,000 and 3,500 metres altitude, and seeing it required an early start and a difficult drive up a rough mountain road. Wildlife enthusiasts are sharing the sighting, celebrating the rare bird unique to this isolated range.
