bulletproof vests

Two cars and a fat bike collided in Eindhoven, with police responding in bulletproof vests, according to Omroep Brabant. The unusual deployment of heavily armed officers to the scene has drawn attention in the region, amid ongoing concerns in the Netherlands about fat bike safety and incidents involving young riders.

An educational explainer circulating on social media looks at the physics of bulletproof vests, describing how layers of strong fibres catch and spread a bullet's energy, deforming the projectile and dispersing the impact across the body rather than simply 'stopping' it. The item has drawn modest engagement, with commenters sharing the explanation and debating how much protection such vests actually provide.
