Webb County

Authorities in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, have launched a prevention operation ahead of forecast heavy rains and thunderstorms expected from Thursday through the weekend. Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas coordinated an operational meeting as civil protection teams prepare for possible flooding. Across the border, flood watch monitoring takes effect Thursday in Webb County, Texas, with rain expected to end the recent heat in the Dos Laredos region.

Webb County has thrown its support behind Laredo's effort to secure a financing tool for a convention center project. The move aligns county and city leadership behind the venue proposal, which relies on a special financing mechanism to move forward. Details on the exact tool and next steps remain limited, but local officials' backing marks a step toward advancing the long-discussed project.
