- 1Modder cuts GPU hotspot temperatures 19C by moving the card●Modder discovers that putting a GPU in the 'wrong place' can deliver a 19 degree cooler hotspot In PC DIY it might still
A PC modder known as TrashBench has found that mounting a graphics card in a non-standard slot can lower its hotspot temperature by as much as 19 degrees Celsius. The result is drawing attention in the DIY community as a reminder that conventional build advice is not always optimal, and that case layout and airflow experimentation can still yield real thermal gains.
- 2Modder attaches 360mm AIO radiator to laptop, temps drop below 40C●Crazed modder straps 360mm AIO radiator to laptop, cuts temps to below 40 degrees PC modder TrashBench attached a 360mm
PC modder TrashBench strapped a 360mm all-in-one liquid cooling radiator to a laptop, pushing temperatures below 40 degrees Celsius. The extreme custom cooling setup delivered performance gains of up to 14 percent, though it sacrifices the portability that defines a laptop. The project is drawing attention from PC hardware enthusiasts amused by the absurd but effective engineering.
