Takayasu

Sumo wrestler Takayasu made his way down the hanamichi carrying prize-money envelopes worth 3.66 million yen following a tournament victory, a sign of the growing sponsorship boom in the sport. Japanese sports media are highlighting the payout as evidence that professional sumo is enjoying a renewed era of popularity and commercial attention in the Reiwa period, with wrestlers now earning far more in prize money than in past years.
