Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. announced Thursday it will build an additional 3-nanometer chip factory in Tainan, with production expected to begin in the first half of 2028. CEO C.C. Wei pointed to strong customer demand as the reason for the expansion, adding to TSMC's advanced chip manufacturing capacity at its southern Taiwan hub.
