San Mateo County has purchased a 74-unit apartment building that will be used to provide affordable housing for teachers and school staff. The move addresses the difficulty educators face finding affordable homes in one of the country's most expensive housing markets, and aims to help schools recruit and retain staff who might otherwise be priced out of the region.
