Rio Grande do Sul

A cold front is bringing a new round of severe storms to southern Brazil, with an extratropical cyclone expected to form in the South from tomorrow. Rio Grande do Sul's civil defense reports the weather event has hit 78 municipalities with 83 recorded incidents, while heavy rain and winds have damaged areas and raised river levels in the state. Forecasts warn of up to 100 mm of rain and hail across five states, and winds of 76.3 km/h were recorded in Paraná ahead of the cyclone.
