Online communities are mobilising Korean-speaking internet sleuths to dig into the background of a defendant in a Cornell University rape case, according to Plataforma Media. The crowdsourced investigation is spreading personal information and claims about the man across social platforms, and researchers caution that much of the material being circulated may be inaccurate or unverified. The episode raises concerns about doxxing, misinformation and trial by internet around an active criminal case.
