Paul Simonon

Bass guitarist Paul Simonon of The Clash is quoted saying the band 'always wanted to be part of the audience', in remarks circulating alongside references to songs like 'White Riot' and 'Police on My Back' and themes of youth rebellion and knowing your rights. The comment evokes the punk group's egalitarian ethos and their close bond with crowds during the UK punk rock era.
