Woodcut illustrations by Georg Bartisch from his 1583 work Ophthalmodouleia, an early printed treatise on eye diseases and ophthalmic surgery, are being shared from the Wellcome Collection's public domain image archive. The images, showing period medical instruments and techniques, are drawing attention as striking examples of Renaissance medical book illustration.
