NASA's Hubble Space Telescope captured Arp 148, also known as Mayall's Object, a pair of colliding galaxies roughly 500 million light-years away. The object is named for astronomer Nicholas Mayall, who first imaged it in 1940 and remarked that it resembled a question mark. One galaxy appears to have crashed through the other, producing a distinctive ring shape. Space enthusiasts are sharing and admiring the striking image.
