Nagaon

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck Nagaon district in Assam, India, while a 5.3 magnitude quake hit Afghanistan according to the National Center for Seismology. Bangladesh also experienced three separate earthquakes overnight, jolting multiple parts of the country. The cluster of seismic activity across South Asia within a short period has drawn attention to the region's seismic vulnerability and prompted people to follow updates on aftershocks and damage assessments.

Live news coverage in India is being driven by three developing stories: over 1,000 people were reportedly detained overnight in Delhi ahead of a protest linked to the CJP issue; counting of votes began in assembly by-elections including Nandigram and Rejinagar, plus the Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll; and a tanker was attacked off Qatar, the first deep-Gulf strike in nearly a month, lifting oil market concerns.
