The owner of cybersecurity firm MonsterCloud has been charged with wire fraud over an alleged 'no-ransom' scheme, in which clients hit by ransomware were reportedly charged for recovery services while the ransom itself was still quietly paid to attackers. The charges call into question what customers were actually told about how their data was restored. Details of the court proceedings have not yet been widely reported.
