Maynooth University

Researchers at Maynooth University have built a scaffolded DNA computer in which short strands compete to attach along a long scaffold strand. Mismatched tiles are energetically unfavorable and detach, being replaced until the arrangement settles into the most stable configuration, allowing the system to compute through self-assembly. The work highlights how DNA's chemical properties can be harnessed for biological computing.
