A general strike and demonstrations in Bologna against the cost of living drew tens of thousands of people on 30 October, with organisers claiming at least 30,000 participants in a march that reached the ring road. Violence later erupted near the train station, with stone throwing, barricades and fires. Four minors were arrested, 36 police officers were injured, and shops in the centre boarded up their windows. Mayor Matteo Lepore said work is under way to protect the city centre.
