Admiral Vladivostok defeated Severstal 4-3 in a shootout in a KHL regular season game. Severstal trailed 1-3 but fought back to force the shootout, where they fell short. Severstal coach Andrei Kozyrev criticized his team's second period and their failure to convert against a three-man penalty kill, while Admiral coach Leonid Batarash said his side, arriving in Cherepovets only a day earlier, started the game slowly but held on for the win.
